Holiday Travel Guid -Visiting Keukenhof Gardens

Amsterdam day tours – Take in the beauty of Keukenhof Gardens.
The Netherlands is home to plenty of wonderful sights and attractions, and near Lisse in the Netherlands you will find Keukenhof Gardens, also referred to as the Garden of Europe. With around seven million bulbs planted in the garden every year Keukenhof Gardens is the largest flower garden in the world.
The gardens can be found in what has become the ‘Dune and Bulb Region in South Holland, and is hugely popular amongst visitors to the area. Getting to Keukenhof Gardens is not difficult, and visitors who are not driving can get there via train from stations in Haarlem, Schiphol, and Leiden.

Whilst the gardens were not established until 1949 it actually occupies a 15th century hunting ground. The gardens became quickly established and for over five decades Keukenhof has been the largest flower garden in the world. The garden displays a huge variety of flowers from around the Netherlands, and has helped the flower export industry in the Netherlands to become the largest in the world.

For those that appreciate natural beauty and the outdoors this is an attraction that will not fail to delight. The beauty, colour, and sheer numbers of the flowers have left many visitors in awe, and the scenery and surroundings in the gardens are breathtaking.

Many of the visitors here have a strong interest in gardens and flowers, and coming to the gardens can prove to be very inspirational, as it can provide visitors with ideas for their own gardens. There are seven gardens here in total, each of which has something unique for visitors to see but all of which are breathtakingly beautiful.

There are different themes to the seven gardens that make up Keukenhof Gardens, and two of these are inspired by Russia. The seven gardens that can be found here include Max’s Garden Lover’s Garden, Loes’s Decking Garden, Ymke’s Town Garden, Ellen’s Outdoor Room, Thijn’s Woodland Garden, Gerbrand’s Round Garden, and Peter’s Patio Garden.

One of the major attractions of Keukenhof Gardens is the Historical Garden, which is fashioned on a historic castle garden with a range of bulbs and plants that really bring the garden to life. Many of the flowers here are of a historical variety and are difficult if not impossible to buy, making this a unique opportunity to see flower varieties that you may otherwise never come across.
